Make Magic Pictures using «Jasc Paint Shop Pro»
If you want to easily an quickly make magic pictures, you are in a wrong place, you can use a program called «
Magic Picture Maker».
But if want to know more about the way these pictures are made, and learn more about the concept behind them, you can go ahead.
Ingredients:
- A picture to Hide!
- Another picture which will act as a container to hide the first
picture within itself.
- Jasc Paint Shop Pro (We use PSP 8.1 in this Tutorial) !Every other
image editing software can be used too!
- 10 Minuets of your spare time.
Step 1: Fire up!
Start PSP.
Step 2: Size Down!
Open the two pictures and if they are not of the same size, resize them, and make sure they both have the same width and height.
Important: If one of the pictures, do not cover the whole picture (as you can see in the picture below) you must fill the rest of the picture with a
light color.

as you see, this picture has a transparent picture,
so I should fill it with
light color!
In this tutorial, I use two pictures which I have scaled down to 200x150 pixels.

I have two pictures and scaled them down to 200x150,
as you see, I have filled the back color of the second picture with a light color.
Step 3: Fill Pattern.
Make a new 2x2 pixel picture with transparent background. (File > New >...)
Use brush tool

with Size=1, Hardness=100 and paint with a white color, in a diagonal way
shown in the picture below.

Just paint the Upper Left and Lower Right Pixels with a white color.

Open
the Picture which you want to make that hidden.
Make a new layer at the top of original picture and select Flood Fill
Tool

and
choose Pattern mode for painting from the color palette, then choose the
new 2x2 picture we made recently as a fill texture.
Make sure you have made a new layer on top of Hidden picture, use Flood
fill tool and fill it with the same 2x2 texture.

You must come up with something like this.
Step 4: Blend Mode.

Now you must change the new layer's blend mode from Normal to Difference.
To do that, from the layer
palette, choose the new layer which must be filled with 2x2 texture by now, and change it's blend mode from Normal to Difference.
Step 5: Wrap-up.
Open the background picture (the cloud in my example)
Select it all and then copy it into clipboard (Press CRTL+A to select all then Press CTRL+C to copy to clipboard)
No bring up the hidden picture which has the new layer on top. and paste the content of clipboard into a new layer (press CTRL+L)
We are already there!, just reduce the opacity of the final layer (Cloud picture in this case) from 100% to 80%.
It's finished now, save your picture in a desired format, GIF would be the best choice, if your picture is not very large,
otherwise, Jpeg with very low compression (around 2% ~ 5%) will be OK.
Save your work and open it in Internet Explorer and hit CTRL+A to see
your Magic Picture! WOW!

Press CTRL+A!
